Hilton Grand Vacations (NYSE: HGV) opened Tradimo Kyoto Gojo on March 18, 2026. The property is HGV’s first resort in Kyoto and its third in Japan, joining The Bay Forest Odawara and The Beach Resort Sesoko in Okinawa.
The resort features 63 one-bedroom suites, each with a full kitchen, in-suite washer/dryer, and a deep soaking tub. The property sits in the Gojo neighborhood of Kyoto’s Shimogyo district, one subway stop from Kyoto Station.
Design Rooted in Kyoto Tradition
HGV designed the resort around kyo-machiya, Kyoto’s traditional wooden townhouses. The renovation retained the building’s existing structure while sourcing Japanese cypress and bamboo from local suppliers. A moss garden greets guests at the entrance. The lobby features Japanese paper partitions inspired by the communal living spaces of traditional Kyoto homes. Display alcoves known as tokonoma showcase art and seasonal flowers throughout the property.
The interior design draws on kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Floor-by-floor visual themes offer details that reveal themselves over repeat visits.
HGV’s Growing Japan Portfolio
HGV acquired the former Citadines Kyoto Karasuma Gojo in October 2024 and completed the renovation for the March 2026 opening. HGV reports more than 75,000 members in Japan. The company has over 720,000 Club Members worldwide.
Kyoto Prefecture recorded 75 million tourists in 2023, a 13{47e772cd852496d685f7768c1e1ff3926845e99bc685d09b5cb3e90ff014ab6d} increase from the prior year. The figure is comparable to Orlando’s 74 million annual visitors.
Community Partnerships
HGV announced a partnership with the Kyoto Tourism Board to support sustainable tourism. The company is also contributing to local organizations including the Kyoto Center for Community Collaboration and the Jidai Matsuri and Aoi Matsuri festivals.
